Rock and Blues Guitar Chords Scales In the Key of A The patterns can be mixed around. You may work around patterns 1 and 2 or any way through many combinations and come up with good results. Another approach would be to play the first four notes on only the sixth and the fifth strings, then the next four notes on the fifth and the fourth strings. The next four notes on the fourth and third strings, the next four notes on the third and the second strings, the next four notes on the second and the first strings only. Combining Rock and Blues Guitar Chords Scales Patterns Play pattern 1 the first four notes then move up to pattern 2 next four notes, then to pattern 3 next four notes right up to pattern 6. Play up and down the fret-board and note the positions and distances from one pattern to the next. Carry on in the same manner with the other other notes and positions and move up and down the finger-board. Work out and transpose the patterns to all keys.
